David and Sandra Brown Carr report on the 2024 Week of Prayer for World Peace interfaith service in Hawke’s Bay, held on Sunday 13 October at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Napier, which was well attended by some 100 people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
The programme features highlights from the interfaith service, which was organized by Rev. Dorothy Brooker of Waiapu Cathedral, Napier, who is a long-time advocate for interfaith activities, and includes thoughts about peace from several young representatives of different faiths as well as contributions from members of the Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Quaker, and Sikh communities.
There will also be music for peace from Seals and Crofts, the Napier Methodist Tongan Choir, Bill Medley (of the Righteous Brothers), and Queen. And the programme will end with a short insight into an ancient monotheistic faith you may not have heard of, Zoroastrianism.
