Race Unity Speech Awards - with David and Sandra Brown Carr
Host: David and Sandra Brown Carr
Language: English
Category: Children and Youth
Duration: 00:55:00
The Race Unity Speech Awards are a platform for senior high school students in years 11, 12, and 13 to express their ideas on how we can improve race relations in Aotearoa.
The Awards were started in 2001 following the passing of Auckland Bahá’í and race relations advocate Hedi Moani.
This month’s show looks back at two of our recent outstanding regional winners who went on to represent Hawke’s Bay in the national Awards: Lena Ormsby, who entered the Awards three times, and Kamaia Moore, who entered twice.
We’ll listen to and then talk with both Lena and Kamaia about how they see the future of race relations in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Music comes from the bright heart of Africa, Shamama, a musical group that aims to put Baha’i-inspired Congolese music on the world map.
