The series will focus on raising awareness of the concept of Compassionate Community and cultivating it here in Hawke’s Bay. It will be primarily interview based with interviewees including people from the newly formed Compassionate Communities Collective Hawke’s Bay and also folk who are volunteering or working in this sphere already. Interviews will explore their ‘why’ as well as their ‘what’ and will contribute to understanding what is working well and where the gaps are in Hawke’s Bay.
A Compassionate Community is one that believes that caring for people in times of crisis and loss is a social responsibility and not just the responsibility of medical or social services.
