David Brown Carr presents the final of his Eurovision Song Contest shows for this year, focusing on the best entries from the 2025 Contest held in Basel, Switzerland, in mid-May. The 37 artists performed in 20 different languages, the highest number since the rule requiring entrants to sing only in one of their national languages was finally eased in 1999, prompting the rise of English as the song language of choice.
The music includes entries from Latvia’s female 6-member group Tautumeitas, the Netherlands’ Claude Kiambe, Switzerland’s own 24 year old Zoë Më, France’s Louane, Italy’s Lucio Corsi, Sweden’s trio KAJ (pronounced “Kai”), who were the pre-Contest favourites, Estonia’s Tommy Cash, Israel’s Yuval Raphael, Austria’s countertenor JJ, and Ukraine’s trio Ziferblat with their “Bird of Pray” (sic).
The show ends with the Prelude from Marc-Antoine Charpentier's "Te Deum", composed in the late 1600s, which has served as the Eurovision Contest’s theme music since 1954.
